Our Genetics

This is not our first venture into breeding elite stock.  In the 1980's we had an Angora Goat Stud and then spent the next 17 years breeding and showing Border Collies at the highest levels throughout Australia.  We bred multiple Best in Show and National Show winning Border Collies and our dogs were very highly regarded and sought after.

 

By coupling our genetic expertise with the gains possible through Embryo Transfer we have been able to quickly establish the Cleveland lineage. 

 

Cleveland's line is highly influenced by two of the first studs to get the best imported genetic material from South Africa - Davel and Micathel. 

 

Most of our foundation does were sired by a buck from these lines and we have continued to line breed our does for a further two generations with bucks also carrying this lineage.  In September 2021 we sold most of our older does to make way for our 2021 doelings.  The average age of our herd is now under 2 years of age.

We are in the process of purchasing a new buck again from the same lines but with some outcrossing, to use over the best of our third generation Cleveland does in Autumn 2022.  The embryoes from these does will then be transferred into our herd.  The use of these proven genetics will further cement Cleveland's line and ensure consistency and true to type.
