Welcome to Cleveland

The area in which our farm is located was settled in the 1860's by Lutherans from Germany escaping persecution.  Those that farmed went to this region and those who pursued viticulture went to the Barossa Valley.

Our property was called Cleveland and our house was built in the 1920's.  We purchased Cleveland in 2019 and have fully renovated and restored it.

We very much value the charm and character that our property has and try to retain its natural heritage as much as we can.

Cleveland was once a much larger sheep and grain producing property and the old shearing shed is no longer part of our property and has fallen into disuse. The adjacent paddocks which were once part of Cleveland are now used for cropping.

Many of the original buildings are still in use - though now used for different purposes.  The original grain shed is now used as shelter for our kids.  The original orchard is now a paddock in which we raise our newly born kids.

Our highly fertile alluvial soil is pasture improved which allows us to run around 12.5 DSE per Ha.
We run around 100 Boer Goat breeding does and grow out at least 50 bucks plus have a commercial flock of 120 Aussie White meat sheep.
In 2022 we will be agisting a further 70 acres from our neighbour which will assist our sustainability.

Our farm is 160 acres and Kangaroo Creek runs  the full length of the property.  This is Red River Gum country and the  creek sometimes floods and cuts the property in half.  We have to wait many weeks for the water to subside before we can get our stock back to our yards.

The 35 acres of Mallee Tree plantations are part of  a carbon sequestration program and provide the goats with much needed browse and shelter.
